Louis Deschênes, a trained forest engineer, began his career in the valuation field at Altus Group in 2006 while completing his Business Administration degree with a specialization in Urban and Real Estate Management at Université Laval.

In October 2013, he co-founded Gilbert, Deschênes et Associés, a Québec-based valuation and consulting firm specializing in advanced appraisal sectors such as expropriation, cost control, reserve fund studies, and litigation.

By 2015, Louis had developed the firm’s municipal taxation department, expanding its expertise across Québec. He also gained recognition as an expert witness in numerous court cases.

In 2018, Louis co-founded GDA Montréal, a valuation and consulting firm known for its specialization in targeted niches, including commercial and multi-residential project development.

In 2022, Louis became President of GDA – Integrated Real Estate Services, where he continues to serve as an expert witness in select legal cases, manages various departments, and oversees the overall operations of the business.

In September 2024, following the merger between GDA and HPDG, Louis assumed the co-chairmanship of the provincial office. The merged entity now employs over 100 professionals and has established itself as a key player in Québec’s real estate and equipment appraisal, cost control, municipal taxation, and litigation sectors.

Louis is also a sought-after speaker, panelist, competition judge, and guest on various programs. He is actively involved in foundations, boards, and committees, further contributing to the industry and community.
